Have fun taking a design from carving to print!

This class will take you from concept to finished print. You will draw/transfer your design onto a wood block, and carve out with handheld gouge tools. Then you will learn how to get the right consistency of ink on the inking plate, and finally, the amount of pressure to apply to get a good hand burnished print.

Note: The carved design will come out in reverse once printed. If carving words, or want the design to face a certain way, bring the design printed out as reverse. We have carbon paper to transfer to woodblock. Bring a simple design with you to class so you will have time to carve and experiment with printing. (woodblock size approx 5x7")

Wear clothes that are ok to get ink on. We will be using water based printmaking ink. Also, wear clothes that are ok to get dirty, and closed toe shoes. We will be using water-based printmaking ink.

Open to all skill levels.

No Prerequisites.
